Situation Analysis
The customer had existing trainer kits and demonstration boxes which were out of date and not effectively organized. New kits had to be built to support standardization of the hardware platform for the students as well as showcasing newer technologies. As an important piece of this effort, these kits also had to allow for ease of transport of the trainers and the customer was able to use them when traveling as well. These were expected to be sales demos for them as well as trainer kits.
Technical Details
Applied Technologies designed, built, and programmed complete kits to meet this customer’s unique needs. These kits consisted of PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and PACs (programmable automation controllers) along with associated items such as specific I/O on various networks, HMIs (human machine interfaces), Ethernet switches, routers, wireless access points and even laptops and IP based phone systems. This allowed the customer to both train and showcase existing technologies and also to highlight new technology areas of focus as a recruiting and sales tool. The kits functioned in a stand alone mode so that they could be utilized individually by students in a classroom or separated and taken to different areas independent of the other kits.
